Are there any playgroups out there for normal, working mothers? I tried last summer to find a group on meetup.com, but Johnson County Moms was forever having playgroups at 10:30 on Tuesdays or 9:30 on Wednesdays, or some equally unattainable time. I would like to join a playgroup, I really would, but I need it to be after 5:30 but before 8pm. And if at all possible, to include dinner in there somewhere. In my mind, I see this group out there, with harried-but-trendy-and-intelligent-and-driven-professional moms, and their cute, but a little ragged kids. Kids who still show, at 5:30, a bit of the signs of having been thrown into not-necessarily-matching clothes, fed a Nutri-Grain bar for breakfast, and shuffled off quickly to the car to daycare drop off. Maybe it's just a figment of my imagination...

I am sorry that you live in Kansas City because I would love to have a playgroup for working moms. Ones that meet on the weekends or during the weekday evenings. Just because you have kids and you work does not mean that you don't want to have social events for your kids. Not sure why people don't realize that.
