I was just catching up on everyone else's blogs, and realized that I haven't written since February.
Really?
Time just got away from me I guess. I have had some nasty viral infection that went around my office and that I then gave to my husband, so that has kind of taken the wind out of my sails for the last, well, going on 10 days or so. I am starting to get back in the groove of things (although I have been next-to-worthless at work this last week), so thought I would at least post something to say that I'm alive.
Haven't given much thought to what to say, so I'll post a couple of random thoughts and links that are on my mind tonight:
- If you have a minute, and you pray, would you say a prayer for Shawndra Turner? She's a lovely lady here in Kansas City who is fighting colorectal cancer. She had big (good) surgery this week at Creighton, but she and her family (husband and almost-2-year-old girl) need all the prayers they can get.
- Really enjoyed catching up on debunot!'s blog. If you're reading what's on her main page today - I loved this statement: "There are millions of tiny moments in our lives that we let pass us by. We look at the slide and stand at the bottom as we contemplate whether or not we should go. We are busy, frantic, stressed. There are deadlines and responsibilities. Yes, there are all those things. But, today, for just a minute, they couldn’t catch me. I was sliding too fast." Wheeeee...
Also, I can only type 53 words per minute. I thought I was faster than that, but maybe the backspace doesn't count as much as I thought it did.
And finally, check out the post about staying at her aunt's house. I am now trying to figure out who I can call to get that kind of attention - sounds lovely.
- What is this JP Morgan Chase buys Bear Stearns for $2 per share about? It's crazy. Bear Stearns is (was?) a HUGE company. 98% discount? Can the Fed do ANYTHING right? And more to the point, can we get Alan Greenspan back - just for a little bit?
- We've officially missed this year's day, but you can take a day this coming week to recognize your own International Day of Awesomeness. Why not?!?
- Someone else linked to this discussion of birthday parties in the middle of the weekday afternoons. I had some thoughts when I first read the post, but as I started through the many (many) comments, I just got tired. Maybe it's the non-flu virus talking, but man, there are enough people worrying about it now, and life is just too short for me to comment. I will say though, that I am still looking for anyone who wants to start an afterwork playgroup.
Well, that's all I'm thinking of this minute. Let's hope it's not another 3 weeks before I write again. But if you see this and want an update, drop me a comment and tell me so.
