Ty can now officially tell a knock-knock joke. Here it is (in the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that I knew so few knock-knock jokes off the top of my head - I think I only had one - that when I was buying Nutri-Grain bars at the store the other day, I also got Pop-Tarts that have jokes printed on them in edible ink. and here's one of them)
* Knock-Knock
* Who's there?
* Lettuce.
* Lettuce who?
* Lettuce in and we'll tell you who!
I have been enjoying his telling of it immensely, and have been prompting him to tell it to everyone. Oddly enough, I have been reading today about other moms who are also hearing jokes, but are not doing the prompting, so are not quite as amused. I'm sure I will get there, but for now, it's great.
Brian is out of town today and tomorrow. I should be getting all kinds of things done around the house, but really, all I did was order from Uppercase Living and catch up on blogs (and find new ones). Oh well, the dishes will be there in the morning, and Project Runway is TiVo'd.

Playgroups
Are there any playgroups out there for normal, working mothers? I tried last summer to find a group on meetup.com, but Johnson County Moms was forever having playgroups at 10:30 on Tuesdays or 9:30 on Wednesdays, or some equally unattainable time. I would like to join a playgroup, I really would, but I need it to be after 5:30 but before 8pm. And if at all possible, to include dinner in there somewhere. In my mind, I see this group out there, with harried-but-trendy-and-intelligent-and-driven-professional moms, and their cute, but a little ragged kids. Kids who still show, at 5:30, a bit of the signs of having been thrown into not-necessarily-matching clothes, fed a Nutri-Grain bar for breakfast, and shuffled off quickly to the car to daycare drop off. Maybe it's just a figment of my imagination...
But if you know of such a group in the 913 area code, drop me a line.

Getting Started
Well, here it is - my first post.
I'm not altogether sure if or how often I'll really carry though with this, but I have been checking in on a few friends' (and to be honest, strangers who sort of feel like friends now) blogs, and thought I'd at least give it a go.
I once tried to make this just an anonymous personal blog, but decided that I didn't write often enough to justify it, so changing this now to be a family blog, and Ty's virtual "kid book" (too old to call it a "baby book" now).
I hope to be better about this than I was at both Ty's baby book (after the first 6 months or so), the journal/letters to Ty I barely started, and the thought of doing a blog.
Keep checking back - we'll see how it goes...
